Interprofessional Health Care Teams

In Health TAPESTRY, the interprofessional health care team is the group of registered professionals that work together to provide primary care to the client. The Health TAPESTRY approach may involve a diverse health care team, including:

  • family physicians,
  • nurses,
  • occupational therapists,
  • physiotherapists,
  • dietitians,
  • pharmacists and
  • other health care professionals.

When an interprofessional health care team is part of Health TAPESTRY, it gives the team members an opportunity to reflect on their roles in caring for clients in a new way. It can also help them better understand how their work and their client’s health needs are affected by the other three parts of the Health TAPESTRY approach (volunteers, community engagement, technology).
