Overview of the Development of Health TAPESTRY

An eight-pronged approach was used to develop the Health TAPESTRY platform:

  1. including components supported by literature evidence of effectiveness
    e.g., integrating volunteers into health care (e.g., the Cardiovascular Health Awareness Program);
  2. grounding the approach in theoretical models: Chronic Care Model, Behaviour Change, Diffusion of Innovation;
  3. running developmental evaluation;
  4. following participatory-based methods;
  5. formally investigating sustainability and scalability;
  6. using iterative pilot testing and evaluating implementation;
  7. conducting a pragmatic RCT to evaluate the effectiveness and cost effectiveness in older adults (analysis underway); and
  8. implementing adapted approaches in different sites and contexts.
